It is also the mission of Campamento Kikotimaal to make Guatemalans aware about the disabled population. Most Guatemalans never saw people with disabilities because many of them are hidden from mainstream society and forgotten. So when Campamento Kikotimaal takes adventures to towns such as Santiago Atitlan and Antigua, Guatemalans see people in wheelchairs and on crutches enjoying themselves while mingling with people without disabilities. We believe that such awareness is essential to help improve the lives of people with disabilities in Guatemala.
